The Digital Song Contest (often shortened to DSC) is an online competition in the style of Eurovision. The contest launched on 2nd July 2020, when the owner Flagicon Germany.png Conor signed a contract with the Digital Broadcasting Union which allowed the show to be broadcasted across the globe. The headquarter for the contest is currently in Dresden, Germany and has been based there since July 2020. The current Executive Producer of the contest is Conor.

Each countries Head of Delegation selects an entry through using either Internal or National Selections, ultimately resulting in the selected songs for each show. Each Delegation then submits 1 set of votes to the contest, representing the professional jury of their country. The contest is broadcasted all around the world and can be watched at all current and former participating broadcasters. In the end, all votes are collected and turned into the Traditional Digital Voting System, causing the country with the most votes to be declared the winner of the competition.

The contest is connected and supported by the Digital Broadcasting Union. This is the group of broadcasters that participate and broadcast the contest in their country, either via Television or Radio. There are currently 94 members of the Union, the full list of DSC members can be found by clicking the link. From the other countries, that are currently not members, each edition, 1 country gets a request from the winning broadcaster to participate as guest for the edition.

About the Contest

On 2nd July 2020, Conor formed a new Broadcasting Union with 50 TV & Radio stations across the globe - entitled the Digital Broadcasting Union (or DBU). This union signed a contract with the contest producers in order to broadcast and compete in the contest. The name "Digital Song Contest" was decided after all 50 Delegations discussed the production, and referenced a connection to technology as the way that will broadcast the shows across the union. The 1st Edition commenced on the 2nd July 2020, when the Official Trailer was released on the Contests' YouTube Channel. This sparked competing broadcasters to find a Head of Delegation that would be in charge of their participation for the upcoming Edition.

The Digital Broadcasting Council currently consists of 7 members, who are responsible for checking, if the submitted songs fulfill all of the rules. Arys, Cameron, Nath, Nuno, Rodrigo, Samu & Zaqra are the current 7 Members as of the 4th June 2022. Allen is the current Co-Owner of the Contest, whom steps in as Executive Producer when Conor is unavailable. Additionally the staff, made out of Nath, Rodrigo & Sakuz, is responsible for various things such as being a moderator on the official Discord server or managing events. Since the Sixth Edition, the Digital Broadcasing Council has been responsible for verifying that all participants correctly submit songs and vote fairly.

Contest Branding

Official Logo used since the First Edition.

The most important aspect of the Digital Song Contest is it's unique branding. The logo of the contest features the name, with the "A" replaced with a white Triangle where the Host Country's flag is inserted. Directly underneath, "Song Contest" and the Host City + Edition Number can be found on a regular logo. The fonts used are "Montserrat" & "AlphaCentauri".

Theme Arts are also created in order to advertise the contest across the Broadcasting Union. Each theme art has an individual reference to either the host city, the winning entry or something significant to the current edition. "Facets" or Centrepieces play a crucial part in the Theme Arts, the flags of each participating country is usually imported to match the facet and is a branding point for the individual delegations, and their preparation of designs for National Selections. All National Selections in the Digital Song Contest have been broadcasted all across the world, thanks to the DBU licencing agreement.

"Slogans" are incorporated into the Digital Song Contest for branding. Since the very First Edition, slogans have been used and even utilised in the Grand Final Recap. Below is a list of all the Slogans used in the Contest:
